Two Brothers, Two Watches, One Memory Frozen in Time

Two watches. Two brothers. One memory, frozen in time.
Some custom watches start with a logo.
Some start with a favorite color.
This project started with a photograph.
A customer sent me a picture of himself surfing with his younger brother. It wasn't a professional photo. It wasn't perfectly composed. But it captured something special — a shared moment between two brothers doing something they loved together.
His idea was simple:
"Can you turn this into a pair of watches?"
The answer was immediately yes.
Turning a Memory Into a Watch Dial
The original image showed two brothers surrounded by powerful ocean waves and a glowing sunset sky. Instead of copying the photo exactly, we transformed it into artwork designed specifically for a watch dial.
The result became two different versions of the same story.
Design A — The Golden Sunset
The first version focused on the warmth of the sunset. The orange sky, glowing horizon, and silhouette of the surfer create a feeling of freedom and adventure.

Version A — warm sunset tones, calm and nostalgic.
Design B — The Blue Wave
The second version focused on the wave itself. Deep blues, powerful water movement, and a more dramatic contrast gave the dial a completely different personality.
Same memory. Different feeling.

Version B — deep ocean blues, energetic and powerful.
Choosing the Right Watch Case
For a surfing-themed watch, a diver-style case felt like the obvious choice. The rotating ceramic bezel gives the watch a sporty character while still feeling premium in the hand.
When you rotate the bezel, there's something strangely satisfying about the click. It just feels right for a watch inspired by the ocean.

Inside: The Reliable NH35 Movement
For this build, we used one of our most trusted automatic movements: the NH35.
Every year we assemble hundreds of watches using the NH35. The reason is simple — it's reliable, durable, easy to service, and proven over time. Very few ever come back with issues.
When you're creating a watch meant to preserve a meaningful memory, reliability matters.

Building Two Watches at the Same Time
Once all the components arrived, it was time to assemble both watches together. This is one of my favorite parts of the process — watching individual parts slowly turn into something personal never gets old.
Each watch is assembled and checked carefully to ensure proper hand alignment, date function, and movement performance.

Every component assembled by hand — every watch checked before shipment.
The Meaning Behind the Design
The blue waves represent movement, strength, and adventure. Surfing isn't an easy sport — it demands patience, courage, and respect for nature.
The dial captures that split second before the wave breaks — a moment surfers know well. A moment where everything feels alive.

The Finished Watches
After assembly, both watches came together beautifully. The all-black diver case gives them a bold and modern appearance while allowing the colorful artwork to become the focal point.

Deep ocean blues. Energetic. Powerful.

More Than Just a Gift
What I love most about this project is that it wasn't really about watches. It was about preserving a memory.
Years from now, these watches will still remind two brothers of a day spent surfing together. A photograph can sit in a phone gallery forever. But a watch travels with you. You wear it. You see it every day. And every glance brings that memory back.
Which One Would You Choose?
If you had to pick one:
🌅 Version A — Sunset
or
🌊 Version B — Blue Wave
Let us know which one you'd wear. And if you could turn one memory into a custom watch — what would it be?
